Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Article has not been previously Published, nor is it currently submitted to another journal.
  • Article is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Abstract is Written in English
  • Article follows journal style directions, and figures and tables are probably placed within the text.
  • References are Provided in English, OR References are in both English and Pashto
  • Article similarity index is under limits of HEC (Less than 20% similarity, no single source larger than 4%)

Author Guidelines

Pashto, Pashto Academy, University of Peshawar welcomes papers in English and Pashto on Pashto language, literature, history, art, Folk and culture. When preparing your manuscript, take care of the following directions:

1. Manuscripts should not exceed 8000 words (including end notes and references).

2. Abstract should be in English, and have word length of 200 words.

3. Paper title should be in English, as well as Pashto (For papers written in Pashto)

4. References should be provided in English, as well as Pashto (For papers written in Pashto)

5. Paper would be submitted for double blind review. Hence, your name, email address, and mailing address should not be present in the article. They should be uploaded separately.

6. Quotations from foreign texts must be translated in the body of the paper, and accompanied by the original in the endnotes.

7. Pashto publishes one single-authored paper, OR, two co-authored and a single authored, OR,  a co-authored paper by the same author. Those articles written by Joint authors, the first author is required to provide written proof of the contribution of second author in the said article

8. Papers must be in accordance with the MLA style.

In connection with the selection of topics for Pashto journal, it should be noted that preference will be given to topics i.e. Pashto Language & Literature, Pashtoon Culture, Civilization, History, Geography and Folklore. More than two articles on the same subject in the same issue of Pashto Journal are not allowed.
